If you have basic knowledge of Word, you will be able to create your own personalized stationery effortlessly and for free.

Teachers have many notes to give to students, parents, fellow teachers, and administration. Teachers should prepare a variety of custom designed letterhead stationery to write the note immediately, rather than place it on her to do list. Teachers can easily create their own personalized stationery with a computer and a minimum amount of time.

Custom Design Letterhead Stationery

Name Design

1. Open a blank Word document. Double click the Word art icon at the bottom of the screen. Choose the Word art style for your stationery and double click. A new screen opens, input your name. At this stage you are able to input the size of the lettering and the font style.

2. Once the design size and font are complete, you are able to change the color of the lettering. Click format, click word art, and next click color and lines. Under the color and lines tab, you are able to change the color of the font, as well, you can change the layout of the name.

Clip Art or Photo

1. Choose a symbol for your letterhead stationery. The design can be a picture drawn by a student or from a previous class. Another option is to download a free clip art picture that represents teaching.

2. Click insert and choose what type of symbol you will input. If you input from your files it will direct you to choose the appropriate file. If you choose clip art, it may redirect you to their site of free clip arts. Best solution is to find a clip art and save it to your computer.

3. Once the clip art or photograph has been chosen, insert the symbol to the appropriate place on the paper. You are able to align the picture behind or in front of your name.

Border

Click format and then click borders and shading. At this point, click page border and choose your style. Sample a few before you choose the border for your letterhead stationery.

Footer

1. At the bottom of the letterhead write your school name, phone number, and school website if applicable. To add footer to a page, click view and then header and footer. Once you have chosen this action, a rectangular box will appear at the top and the bottom of the page. Place the information at the bottom of the page. You are able to choose your text style, size and page layout within the box. The information is in a lighter shade of text. The box will not be seen once you input the information.

2. If you wish to place a line above the footer information, use the line auto shapes to create a line. Once the line is created, you can change the color, and size of the line by right clicking on the line. Choose format auto shape to make any alterations to the line.

Saving

Save the personalized letterhead and create a folder for the letterhead. This letterhead is your master copy.

Print

Print a copy of the personalized letterhead for future use or reference. As well, print a copy on acetate.

Acetate Copy

If you already have letters completed and want it on your letterhead. Simply place the acetate over your letter and place face down on the photocopier, and make a copy.

Other Options

Create thank you cards, note cards, or any other letter cards for use in the classroom. You can create cards such as homework reminders, missing homework, or missing books.

1. Click the tool file and open envelopes and labels under the file mailings and letters. Choose an envelope or label size for your cards. You can select print preview to get a visual of the size of the card.

2. Place the same logo on each of your cards, by reducing the size on the letterhead. After it is complete, save, copy, and paste on the correct paper format.

3. Once the different cards are created, place the master copy in a clear plastic liner. Print several copies of each and have hand for the next time you need to thank a student for a gift or give her a note for lateness in the classroom.
